Drawing the attention of 7 continents, 204 countries, over 6.7 billion people around the world… August 8, 2008, Friday, marks the astonishing opening of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The host nation’s flag rises above all else as the entire world unite in giving salutation to a nation that artistically presented its 5000 years of heritage – the compass, gunpowder, paper, and the movable type.

The Games of the XXIX Olympiad is showcasing 302 events in 28 different sports! 10, 500 athletes carrying their countries name are expected to compete and show that they are the great victors! The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics will run to the 24th of August to be followed by the 2008 Summer Paralympics from September 6 to September 17.

As I was watching the 4-hour video of the opening of the prestigious Beijing Summer Olympics 2008, I can’t help but feel how this culture takes pride of their Motherland. From that presentation alone China definitely allows itself to be recognized worldwide.

The impressive fireworks display that lighted up the whole of the National Stadium, the architectural wonder known as the Bird’s Nest surely did give pride to the noteworthy leaders of their land.

The opening ceremony featured 14,000 performers - including 9,000 from the People’s Liberation Army - and 15,153 costumes.

Ever heard of latte art?

Latte is a kind of coffee drink made with hot milk. But this ain’t just any coffee you find anywhere. No worries, there’s no extra ingredient added. Latte art is basically a combination of art and coffee in one! And yeah, that’s possible. I can’t even stop adoring this latte art of a cute bear here!

So I did some research and here’s what I found out.

Latte art is a known style of pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso. That then results to the patterns or designs that appear on the surface. Others literally ‘draw’ on these foam that form to create more intrinsic designs. Isn’t that awesome?… And better yet, there are people who specialize in doing coffee mixes. An expert in such creations is called a ‘barista‘. And the well-known espresso machine does this trick too.

Many other designs are available. Anything your mind could think of is possible. You can be as creative or as complicated as you can get. You could feel like an expert and get designs with a single pour, or multiple pours! Or even add some etching using some stirrer…

This strange looking motorcycle, believe it or not, is a winner of the Grand National Roadster show as the most beautiful motorcycle. Yes, it’s the most beautiful motorcycle - and guess where - in AMERICA. How in the world can this peculiar bike win in a contest? I mean what’s with the front forks? It looks like somebody dropped a chest freezer on it. It’s not aero dynamic either. I can’t imagine a rider wearing motorcycle clothes by Harley Davidson on this bike. He sure would be a laughing stuff going around.

I wonder what the criteria on this contest are. Judges…really…what were you thinking? I don’t get it at all. But come to think of it, this motorcycle would be price favorably because of its awkwardness. Aero dynamic features – poor. Body design – poor. Body paint – poor. Style – way too poor. Weirdness – A++. I hope they stated the engine specs here though so that at least on that aspect, I might be caught in awe knowing to have this kind of body, it has a sensible engine.
